Purpose

-Purpose and Objective The purpose of this Electronic Portfolio is help me as a professional develop and expose my achievements during my practice teaching experience. With this I expect to demonstrate my progression through the experience by including relevant information like my teaching philosophy, evidence of my lesson planning(both effective and ineffective plans), evidence of the teaching process, a Teacher Work Sample(TWS), and a set of concluding reflections on which I will looking back on the whole experience and how it has affected my professional development all around. My objective is to provide an insightful and well organized source of information regarding my experience in a manner that will be easy for people to reflect and learn from my perspective and the side of the desk.

Biography

-Autobiography

I was born on February 9, 1989 in the Island's capital of San Juan. First born son of Iris N. Fonseca and what would be the last in line for Anibal Rivera Senior.

Shortly after I was born I move to my mothers hometown of Caguas, where I was raised till this day. I live with my mother who was a secretary that only had a high school degree and my father who only had a middle school degree and had work most of his life as a trucker. As boy my parents selected military education as the means for my education and at the age of five I was enrolled at Caguas Military Academy where I would remain for the rest of my High School career.

At the age of twelve my life was forever changed due to the passing of my mother and the departure of my father from my life. For me this where determining factors because they from the passing of my mother I gather and decided on what I was expecting of my life to become and from my father I learned what mistakes I did not want to make in regards to my professional life.

When I graduated from ninth grade I was already set on becoming a teacher, the problem now was where I would get my education from after I got out of High School. This question would soon be answer in full with examples and new role models included. By the time we were supposed to take the the College Board and submit our results to colleges I had made up my mind that my closest option was to go to the UPR-Cayey, because to everyone's understanding that was the best university to study education(most of which was based on the fact that the secretary of the PRDE graduated from there)on any field you so choose. However, this decision changed when a week before we took the college board exam my school was visited by four professors(as if by destiny or a miracle) from the English Department in the UPR-Humacao. This four professors were none other than Professor Lucy Vega(My future Literature Professor), Dr. Giovana Blaguer (Academic Advisor at the time), Dr. Dennise Rodriguez(Director of the English Dept. at the time), and last but not least Dr. Anibal Muñoz (who would later in become my practice co-supervisor). This four people came to my school and made a general presentation on what the University had to offer, but with me they did more than that. After listening to their presentation and talking to them about what they offered up in the department my friends came to me and said: "You have to go to Humacao and study with that dude( in reference to Dr. Muñoz), listen at how he talks". With that experience I made my decision as to where my graduate studies would take place. Finally in August 2007, UPR-Humacao became my house for my professional development.

Through years in the UPRH, I went through all sorts of experiences. From strikes to plays, my general formation was a very rounded one in most of the arts. My pride and joy from this college experience has been the interaction and the experiences lived in the English Student Association. Those experiences more than formative, gave me a life line to the college experience that will last me a life time and allow me to grow on a more personal level due to the fact that by interacting with people from my field, and as a result my direction, my resolve and more importantly my learning became more solid as a result. Lastly my University instilled in me a sense of purpose and pride in what I will be do i my life which is to shape lives more than anything. As such it made me make a decision to continue studies to further myself and improve all that I am and all that I will become as a professional.
